Gabe Pompier, a Mahmet-Semur alumnus, is a third division III national championship.
Now a senior at North Central College, Pomera won the national 1,500 meter final on Saturday with a time of 3 minutes, 4.6..63 seconds in personal best time. The 2017 Bulldogs graduate entered the meeting as a D-Third National Leader for a time of 3: 47.29.
According to the American Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, Pummy’s time is the fifth fastest in the history of the D-Third National Championship.
Pummer had previously qualified for the 2020 D-III National Indoor Championships in both the 5,000-race medal relay and distance, but the event was canceled in response to the COVID-19 epidemic.
Pumiar was the 2016 News-Gazette’s first all-area boys’ cross country team selection and helped the Bulldogs runner-up in the top seven during the 2015 campaign, helping the MS distance program to the state championships in class 2 that year. Pomeroy also finished 10th as a senior in 2017 Class 2 with 1,600 races, completing the race at 4: 31.61.
