2021 High School Sports Awards

The Daily Sentinel High School Sports Awards returned with a live performance at the Avalon Theater. The district had winners of 22 sports for 51 student-athletes and a total of 744 nominated candidates.

Local High School Awards Posted

Postseason honors from the just-concluded high school sports season continued Thursday with the official release of a full version of each of the awards given to Prep Baseball, Boys Basketball and Pierce High School throughout the official year.

In baseball, River Valley and Youth City received a pair of league honors at the Capital Valley Conference; RV Bradford and Evan Hillary received first-team titles and formed the team on behalf of Landon Comer and Bryson Reef Vice.

On Wednesday, Kalasa Baseball finished 27-1 with a sweep over a busy live oak from its best season.

Ethan Ley and Drew Bradbury have been named Most Valuable Co-players in the Sacramento Valley League.

Classer Emanuel Frias, Justin Lee, Nick Price and Luke Calfusby were named to the All-SVL postseason squad.

In men’s basketball, YC’s Jalen Hale has earned an All-CVC after five seasons playing for honors.

Hale is averaging 24 points per game, the best for the team.

Pierce pays tribute to all Postsein

In volleyball, Betty Myers, Katie Williams, Maria Rivera, Sierra Murphy and Aslin Waldridge were named to the All-SVL team.

In soccer, Eduardo Ambridge, Justin Mathews, Luke Bhurhiz, Eduardo Piaz and Jesus Ruiz Postseason have garnered rave reviews.

Pierce’s Louis Franklin, Bryce Murphy, Ryan Travis, and Tristan Miller were inducted into the SVL baseball team; Betsy Myers and Sierra Murphy were into softball.

In men’s basketball, Justin Mathews, Christian Matt, Eduardo Pies and Luke Verheis have earned recognition from the postseason league. Pierce Jocelyn Medina and Myra Sanchez were named to the All-SVL team for women’s basketball.
