The Enfield High softball team has not allowed double-digit runs in any of the games since Monday’s win over Summers.
But it was the second time since he took a third-race lead against Southampton in Monday’s CCC championship game. And the Blue Knights, who ranked third in the GameTimect state poll, did so in one entry.
Southanton’s 10-run hit in the bottom of the third erased his deficit and the fourth-seeded Blue Knights beat the Eagles tied for fourth 12-1 at Quirk Field in Hartford for the CCC crown.
Julia Panarella had two hits off Suchington (22-1), who won 21 straight games. She has three walks and 11 outs.
Meredith Higgins singlehandedly kept the Field Gulls ahead and then Olivia Stevens allowed Enfield on her own to reach the top three together.
Southampton had great responses, including a Grand Slam by Jazmin Lasan that made it-1 and a three-run home run by the Aslin Desaliners that captured the inning score. Lasan is second with two RBIs for five runs, while the Desouliners also had two runs and three RBIs for two runs.
Tiffany Lubanski was a disappointing decision for the Iff Gulls (19-4), having lost twice in the last 13 games to Southampton. The Blue Knights won 5-2 at Anfield a week before En Tu’s regular final.
Soutington and Enfield are now heading to the Class LL State Tournament. The Blue Knights champion and number one seed and Wednesday’s second-round game will be against the winner of today’s competition between No. 16 Pompeii and No. 17 New Milford.
Ag Gols obtained the fourth RAD and the biography of the first round. On Wednesday they will entertain today’s player between Stamford at No. 13 and West Haven at No. 20. If Soutington and Enfield win two games, they will meet again in the Class LL semifinals.
