High school sports UIAAA announces Directors Cup winners for 2020-21 school year

The Utah Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association recently announced the final standings for its 2020-2021 Directors Cup Awards.

The six classification winners were Corner Canyon (6A), Mountain View (5A), Green Canyon (4A), Richfield (3A), North Summit (2A) and Piute (1A).

Similar to the Deseret News All-Sports Award, the Directors Cup awards points for how schools finish in all boys and girls state tournaments. Points are awarded to the top 16 finishers in each sport, and those results account for 40% of the team total. The remainder of the standings are determined by GPA and sportsmanship.

Points are assigned to the top 16 teams in each classification with the highest GPA, which accounts for an additional 40% in the standings.

The final 20% is based on how successful schools were in implementing the “Raise The Bar” sportsmanship program issued by the UHSAA.

This is the 11th year of the Directors Cup award.
