Colorado Rockies injury news: An update on Ryan McMahon

Colorado Rockies injury

Shortly after the Colorado Rockies secured a split of their two-game series with the Seattle Mariners in the Pacific Northwest, Rockies manager Bud Black gave an update on the status of infielder Ryan McMahon.

Here is the latest on Colorado Rockies infielder Ryan McMahon’s injury.

McMahon pinch hit in Colorado’s home loss to Milwaukee on Sunday and did not see action in either of the games in Seattle. Battling what has been termed as “right forearm soreness,” Black said the Rockies took precautions with McMahon against the Mariners, but he is hoping the All-Star candidate will be back in action when the Rockies open a three-game road series against the Brewers on Friday.

The Rockies have an off day on Thursday, which certainly could help McMahon’s healing process and allow him to be back in the lineup for a rare day game series opener on Friday as the Brewers hold their Opening Day 2.0 on Friday with full capacity inside American Family Field.

“Mac’s feeling better,” Black said. “With tomorrow’s off day, we will evaluate again on Friday. But I know Mac wants to get in there. He’s antsy, but the medical staff advised both the coaching staff and Mac that it was probably best to let this quiet down a little bit.

“We’re hopeful that Friday he feels good enough and that he’s turned the corner where he can get back on the field.”

McMahon, one of Colorado’s leading candidates to earn an All-Star Game berth when the Midsummer Classic comes to Coors Field on July 13, is slashing .256/.356/.508 with an OPS+ of 111. He leads Colorado with 16 home runs and 2.8 bWAR.
