Before you know it, Lowcountry stadiums will be filled with all the sights, sounds and excitement of Friday Night Football.
South Carolina High School League football teams began practice for their 2022 season on July 29. Athletes put on their shoes, put on their helmets and resume activities designed to prepare them for competition this fall.
Public school teams can participate in the scrimmage/jamboree beginning August 4. Many teams will begin their regular season on August 19 in week 0.
Dorchester County’s annual showdown is set for 7 p.m. Aug. 19 at Memorial Stadium in Summerville. The jamboree will feature varsity and JV teams from Ashley Ridge, Fort Dorchester, Summerville and Woodland. Ashley Ridge opens the regular season with a game at Cane Bay on August 26th. Home games scheduled for the Swamp Foxes include contests against Conway on Sept. 2, St. James on Sept. 16, Wando on Sept. 23, Fort Dorchester on Sept. 30, West Ashley on Oct. 7 and Stoll on Sept. 28.
Fort Dorchester opens its season on Aug. 26 by hosting Beaufort. The Patriots’ other home games are scheduled for Sept. 9 against Florida’s Clearwater Academy International, Oct. 7 at Goose Creek, Oct. 14 at Stall and Oct. 28 against Summerville.
Summerville opens its season on August 26th hosting Carolina Forest. The Green Wave’s other home games are scheduled for Sept. 9 against Wando, Sept. 30 against Stratford, Oct. 14 at West Ashley and Oct. 21 against Ashley Ridge.
