Central Ohio High School Football Preview Guide coming soon

With the second year of extended playoffs and another early start to the high school football season, this week’s athletic staff is sticking to our game plan from last year, which has proven successful.

As we have for the past several years, we will provide our readers with everything they need to prepare for opening night through the state championship games and then each week of the season.

To provide the latest possible news on our season preview, our Friday Night Live 2022 Central Ohio High School football preview guide will once again be available online only.

August 12

•In our cover story, Jarrod Ulrey looks at the breakout seasons of teams like Big Walnut, New Albany and Upper Arlington a year ago and what they’ll have to do to stay there.

•Ulrey also discusses the status of the area’s top college recruits, including Dublin Coffman’s Will Smith Jr. from Ohio State.

• Our opening day concludes with the release of our Super 7 pre-season poll and this week’s staff league predictions.

August 15th

• Opening week kicks off with previews of the CCL (10am kickoff), area MSL teams (noon) and Columbus Crusaders, Jonathan Alder, KIPP Columbus, London, Rady and West Jefferson (2pm).

August 16th

• City-North (noon) and City-South (2pm) previews dominate the second day.

17 of August
• The OCC Buckeyes (10am), Capitals (noon), Cardinals (2pm), Central (4pm) and Ohio (6pm) take center stage with team previews.

August 18th

•Now that you’ve read the season preview, it’s time to preview Week 1 gameplay.

•ThisWeekSPORTS.com prediction panel will pick the biggest games of the opening week.

August 19

• On the first Friday of the season, we’ll reveal our preseason Super 24 squad, which will name an all-star team of the best players regardless of position.

•Preview weekends, but our staff doesn’t hold back as we bring you stories and photos from the biggest games on the first Friday night of the season.

Ryan Baker and I will once again be providing scores, interviews and highlights every Friday night. But after eight years at AM820, the show is on. “High School Football Overtime” will air on 97.1 The Fan. The event kicks off after the week’s games and lasts until 11 p.m.
