More than 18,000 fans are expected Friday at Eagle Stadium when Allen (Texas) takes the field to play No. 1 St. John Bosco (Bellflower, Calif.) in a battle between two high school football programs that have claimed national titles in the past decade.
St. John Bosco, crowned MaxPreps National Champion in 2019, is making its first trip to the Lone Star State. Under head coach Jason Negro (127-25 record, 13th season), the Braves have claimed Open Division state championships in 2013, 2016 and 2019 and pumped out a steady stream of high-level FBS prospects.
Allen finished No. 1 nationally in 2014 with Kyler Murray under center, capping a three-year run as the school’s signal caller that included three state titles and a 47-1 record. The Eagles have won 10 or more games in every season since with another state crown coming in 2017.
Lee Wiginton will be making he debut as the head coach at Allen in this game after a successful run at nearby Midlothian Heritage.
